why I switched to an organic skin care routine

The answer to why I switched to an organic skin care routine is pretty simple.  I was sick of putting a ton of chemicals on my face and seeing zero improvement.  I finally realized all of the chemicals I was lathering on my face twice daily could not be healthy.

Additionally, after reading my friend’s blog post (Link- Why I Discarded My Skincare Products ), I learned just how harmful the chemical were in my skin care products.   Her post has a ton of great information about the effects of the chemicals in the products.  For me, the biggest concern was the carcinogens in the products.  While I am no scientist or doctor, I am pretty sure putting on a ton of chemicals on your skin daily for years cannot be healthy.

So, I went to AJ’s Wicked Salon and Spa in Rapid City, South Dakota, and got some samples of the Eminence Organic Skin Care line. Seriously, after one use, I could feel the effects on my skin.  It felt instantly cleaner, and I felt so good knowing I wasn’t putting harsh chemicals on my face. After I was sold on the product, I worked with Miranda and Jamie at the Salon to find the right products for my skin. They were amazing with answering all of my questions, and I truly felt like I have the right products for me.

It is recommended that you use the eminence products for three months to see the full potential. It was compared to switching to a clean diet–your body has to adjust to it. I am a week into the products and absolutely obsessed. My skin feels so much healthier, and I have no guilt after washing my face and putting on toner and moisturizer.

I don’t want to pretend like I had terrible skin and now it is perfect after the products. So to give you a little background: my skin gets terrible in the wintertime. It gets dry and oily and it sucks to deal with.  Secondly, I get horrible hormonal acne. All of this usually clears up in the summer. So, I will go through periods where my skin is unbearable, and then periods where it is “normal” with little to no breakouts. Right now, I had a terrible breakout prior to using the products and after one week, the breakout calmed down, and my skin looks good!

Some of you asked what products I was using prior to switching over, so I linked them. They aren’t bad, but like I said, they just stopped working for me, and I was over the chemicals.

IN WITH THE NEW: EMINENCE ORGANIC SKIN CARE ROUTINE

Step 1: Cleanse with the Eminence Stone Crop Cleansing Oil

Eminence Stone Crop Cleansing Oil

I use this oil to take off my makeup before I cleanse. I really like it because I feel like it gives my skin moisture instead of stripping away everything in my pores first thing. As you can see, the bottle is pretty big, and I only use a drop or two before I cleanse, so I think it will last for a while!

Step 2: Cleanse with Eminence Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser

Again, with this product, I only use about two dime size drops maximum. The bottle is pretty large, so I think it will last a while. I love the smell of this product, and how refreshed my skin feels after use.

Step 3: Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant

Okay, this stuff is literally the best smelling stuff ever. It smells like candy, and I want to eat it. But, you just take a few shakes of this (it comes out like baby powder), and mix it with a couple of drops of water, and exfoliate. It is amazing. This, like the other products comes in a great size, and should last a while. This product can be used with Step 2– to create an extra exfoliation. So you just pour a little into the face wash, mix the two together, and exfoliate your skin. I like to do this at night!

Step 4: Tone with the Eminence Tonique, Sweet Red Rose

This provides the perfect amount of moisture, and also smells great. I use about two spritzes on my face and neck. Eminence has a lot of toners, but this one was recommended for my oily skin.

Step 5: Moisturize with Acai Moisturizer

Eminence Firm Skin Acai Moisturizer

This stuff is amazing. It smells like berry yogurt, and a little bit goes a long way. My skin looks hydrated throughout the day, and again, it feels so good knowing i’m not lathering a ton of chemicals on my face when i use this, unlike other moisturizers I have tired.

Once a Week: Mask with Eminence Lime Stimulating Treatment Masque

Eminence Lime Stimulating Masque

Okay, I am sure you saw the video of me using this mask. My face turned bright red after a minute of use. However, the redness went away after about 20 minutes of washing it off. My skin felt clearer and the next day my skin felt and looked great.

If you decide you want to switch to an organic routine, and you are in the Rapid City area, I highly suggest going to AJ’s Wicked Salon and Spa  and consulting with an esthetician.   They can assist you in finding the right products for your skin!  If you are not local, Eminence is sold at spas in nearly every state.
